Elliptical Coffee Table in Poplar Burl and Oak with Glass Canyon

Let me introduce a beautiful and unique coffee table, handcrafted from a combination of natural wood and glass in my Frogmakes Woodcraft Studio.

The tabletop is made from striking burl poplar, with deep 3D grain and rich natural color. A 6 mm tempered glass panel is set into the wood, precisely cut to follow the natural contour. The result resembles a riverbank or canyon – a tribute to raw nature.

The surface is thoroughly prepared to resist moisture and daily use. I used wet-sanding techniques to preserve long-lasting smoothness. It’s finished with Rubio Monocoat hardwax oil, which enhances the structure and protects the wood.

The poplar wood was dried to 6% humidity and processed in a climate-controlled workshop. Any natural cavities were filled with organic wood filler to retain an authentic appearance.

The legs are crafted from solid oak, finished with pure tung oil, and feature adjustable chrome feet for leveling on uneven floors.

Each table is a true original – the shape of both wood and glass is never repeated. I save each glass template to allow replacement orders in case of future damage.
